Policy Statement
Care Crew Solutions is committed to ensuring that information and communications are accessible to all individuals, including people with disabilities. We will provide or arrange for the provision of accessible formats and communication supports, upon request, in a timely manner that takes into account the individual’s accessibility needs.
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that all public information made available by Care Crew Solutions is accessible and inclusive in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and related standards.
Scope
This policy applies to all Care Crew Solutions employees, volunteers, contractors, and anyone providing services or representing the organization to the public or to third parties.
Policy Details
1. Accessible Formats & Communication Supports
Care Crew Solutions will, upon request, provide or arrange for the provision of accessible formats and communication supports for persons with disabilities:
- In a timely manner that respects the urgency of the request;
- At no additional cost to the individual;
- In consultation with the person making the request to determine the most appropriate method of communication.
Examples may include (but are not limited to):
- Large print
- Plain language summaries
- Audio recordings
- Screen-reader compatible PDFs
- Communication boards
- Support from staff trained in alternative communication methods
2. Public Information & Feedback Process
Information available to the public, such as service brochures, care plans, contracts, and policies, will be made available in accessible formats upon request.
We will also accept feedback in accessible formats, including but not limited to:
- Verbal communication
- Written communication
- Telephone
- Through a support person or assistive technology
3. Notice of Availability
Care Crew Solutions will notify the public about the availability of accessible formats and communication supports:
- On our website
- On printed materials where appropriate
- Through verbal communication by staff
4. Responsibilities
All staff are responsible for:
- Being aware of and respecting accessibility requests
- Consulting with the client or family to understand their communication needs
- Escalating complex requests to management when needed
Management is responsible for:
- Coordinating the provision of accessible materials or services
- Ensuring that requests are documented and tracked
- Reviewing feedback for continuous improvement
